OLD STUFF

This really is the title of this piece , because, well, it isn't really a part of the black figure series, but was the piece that bridged the previous series and led to the black figures. Notice the much happier colors, composition, and existence of other objects besides the figure?

I remember basing this piece on a composition I took out of a magazine, Better Homes and Gardens I think. Of course, I changed everything in the picture from the magazine, but I still used it as my source of inspiration. I don't think the figure was almost walking out of the painting in the ad, but I obviously felt it was important and "saying something" by making him do that in the finished piece.

Mainly I'm including this because the slide was in really good shape, and I think I really like the composition. It's also in pastel, which is a cool medium, but it's messy, entirely too fragile, and, is generally a pain in the ass.
